Fun, Friendship and Feeling.

On Summer 2, students spend one day a week in London sightseeing and travelling around London. The days are really full so it is always nice to get back to Steyning and the quiet of the countryside.

Time spent in London is a blend of sightseeing and education. Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, Nelson’s Column and Trafalgar Square are obvious choices, but we also take some time to visit the National Science Museum or The Tate Modern which is a really rewarding experience for both young and old.
Greenwich Market, on the banks of the River Thames, is a very enjoyable occasion and there is a wide choice of souvenirs, arts and crafts and old toys and games to take back home.
In the second week, there is a day trip to Winchester by coach. From Steyning, students visit this historical town, home of King Arthur, the well-known cathedral and Jane Austen’s burial ground. Students have time to walk around the town and have an enjoyable picnic lunch on the common by the cathedral or walk to the top of St. Catherine’s Hill and look out over the lovely county of Hampshire.
Around Steyning there are wonderful villages and sights to see within walking distance. Students can visit these places and of course, further along the coast is Brighton. There are weekly trips by bus or train to Brighton and in good weather, they can spend time sunbathing on the beach and swimming in the sea.
An option for Summer 2 is a day trip to Portsmouth where there are the naval museums and ancient ships open to tourists. Visitors can climb on board The Mary Rose or HMS Victory and dive down into the depths with the submarine, HMS Alliance, too.

Costs for entrances to all museums and galleries, boat trips and the day trip to Portsmouth are not included in the Summer 2 itinerary.
